NLA's Razak Opoku Raised ₵2.1Mil In NPP's Name But Spent It All Alone - Abronye DC Says on UTV.

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party and a member of the national communications team of the party, Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC has alleged that, the controversial Public Affairs Director of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), used the NPP's image to raise huge funds from private lottery operators.

Speaking on Adekye Nsroma on UTV this morning, he was emphatic that, not even a pesewa of the 2.1million cedis raised was ever handed over to any party executive or the party and hence, Razak Opoku had benefitted from the monies he used the party's name to advance his selfish interest and according to him, that is illegal and criminal.

He further alleged that, this was during the just ended elections, where Razak had opined that, he can use his influence to raise such monies to support the party's bids for much needed funds and was successful in getting some influential stalwarts of the party to sign letters of sponsorship and this aided Razak Opoku to raise such funds.

Abronye DC, also a former NPP youth organizer in the Brong Ahafo Region insisted that, he has evidence to the fact that, Razak Opoku, had raised as much as between 40,000 and 60,000 cedis from several private lottery operating firms and in total had raised about 2.1mill cedis.

He further added that, Razak Opoku may be the most opportunistic politician in the country, as according to him, Razak was once a staunch NDC member and communicator and he used to verbally abuse H. E Nana Addo, and even went to be a leading member of Hassan Ayariga's party, just before the 2016 elections, only to divert to the NPP and rise fast through the ranks as a communicator by employing same ploy to verbally assault John Dramani Mahama, helping him strategically to land that influential job at the National Lotteries Authority.

Other members of the panel on UTV questioned how come a public relations officer have so much vested power at the authority and called on the president or the board of Directors to do something about it, as according to them, their silence may mean they are in support or compromised. They cited instances, where he as a PR officer had released letters making key managerial decisions and interestingly had copied the then Director General in those letters and according to them, his decisions still stood.

One person also alleged that, he had made personal checks with the umbrella body that governs the work of public relations officers, probably the Institute of Pubic Relations (IPR) and according to him, no information is found on even his membership or qualification and was wondering what criteria was used in appointing him by the NPP. He even alleged that, "we must know if by virtue of insults, one can get a lucrative job, then the government should tell us, as I doubt the academic qualities of Razak Opoku" he said.

Most recently, the Public Affairs Director of the National Lottery Authority(NLA) Razak Kojo Opoku, in an audio that went viral, was heard saying “To be honest Akufo-Addo or no one can challenge me, I know how to write and talk”.

This attracted a massive backlash from the Hon. Kennedy Agyapong who promised to deal with the young communicator, who even has the effrontery to speak in this harsh manner to the president and he also alleged that, Razak had cancelled certain contracts at the NLA single handedly, something he found preposterous.

But Razak had denied being the person who’s heard challenging the authority of President Akufo Addo in a viral audio, as in a press statement, Mr. Opoku insists that, carefully listening and assessing the audio categorically stated that, it is mischievously doctored to make him look bad in the eyes of the general public, adding that “I never authored those words.”

He had disclosed that “it was a telephone conversation between myself and one lawyer close to Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw. So how come, the voice of the lawyer I had a discussion with is missing? This clearly shows that some aspects of the Audio have been highly doctored for diabolical agenda. I, therefore, entreat the general public to completely disregard the audio and its content.”

In the just ended elections, he played pivotal roles in the NPP's victory, as Mr Razak Kojo Opoku, had founded a group known as the Concern Voters Movement (CVM), where he served as its President and used the platform and his media connections to vote for H. E Nana Addo. In one that received several support and backlash, he had appealed to Ghanaians to reward President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidates on December 7th by voting voting for them.

A statement signed by him, went viral and published on the renowned Ghana News Agency portal had said: "Ghanaians must remember and not forget the passion, long-suffering, perseverance and commitment that President Akufo-Addo went through to give them the Free Senior High School (SHS)." It said President Akufo-Addo also gave Ghanaians Free Water and Electricity, Ambulances to each constituency, Solved Dumsor, the Nation Builders Corp, Planting for Food and Jobs, One-District-One-Factory, Zongo Development Fund, Restoration of Teacher's and Nursing Trainees allowances, lasting peace in the Dagbon Kingdom among others.

The statement had also said that, the Victory of Akufo-Addo and the NPP Parliamentary Candidates depended on their votes, "I therefore appeal to you to 'Vote Number 1' to safeguard and consolidate the progress made so far under Akufo-Addo's Government." and many believe that, his influence during the elections, may be the reason, no concrete action has been taking against him, even though many negative things have been widely reported of him in the media but he is still at post.

We are still waiting to see how far the threats of no nonsense Hon. Kennedy Agyapong will go also, as nothing has been seen yet on his threats to deal with him.
