Liverpool suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Brighton at Anfield on 3rd January, 2021. The lost is their second consecutive home lost since 2012. It was a shocking defeat as many fans could not believe the outcome of the game. Liverpool have been facing a lot of defensive problems after Virgil Van Dijk's injury last year. His defensive partner, Matip also followed suit suffering another injury.

The first half of the game ended in a goalless draw as both sides looked promising. 11 minutes into the second half, thus on the 56th minute, the visitors found the back of the net through Alzate. All efforts by Liverpool to get the equaliser proved futile as the Brighton's defense was ready for business. The match therefore ended 1-0 against the reds.

The lost has spoilt a lot of people's bets. Many people tipped Liverpool to win the match with much ease but they were left dumbfounded at the final whistle.
