Ajax have simply been unstoppable this season, and it seems they are targeting a deep run in the Champions League. They made it into the knockouts in style, by topping a group which consisted of Borussia Dortmund, and Sporting.
They have been scoring goals at an unbelievable rate, and their defense has been equally spectacular as well.
Meanwhile, Benfica are finding it hard to break into the top two of the Portuguese top flight. Their form has been comparatively poor, and they are also struggling a bit in terms of defense.
Benfica were winless in seven of their past eleven overall games, and they had also lost two of their previous five fixtures.
They had also lost two of their last three appearances at home, and they had failed to keep clean sheets in their preceding five home games.
On the other hand, Ajax had recorded a 4-2 win in their latest Champions League match up, against Sporting and note that they are the current Portuguese champions. Benfica are as of now placed third in the Portuguese top flight.
Going on, Ajax had won 26 of their last 30 overall matches, and not once have they lost on the road since April of 2021.
