See the top highest currency in the West African Sub-region: ECOWAS.

There are 16 independent countries that makes the West Africa subregion according to the UN. These include; Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte D'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

These 16 countries together form a common bloc known as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) with common economic interests.

Economically, eight of the ECOWAS member countries use the CFA franc, which is pegged to the European currency Euro. The other seven ECOWAS countries have their own currencies.
