Authorities suspend market activities in the Bosomtwe in a bid to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The President of Ghana ever since Ghana recorded its first index case of this deadly coronavirus has communicated a number of measures to help contain the rate of spread and flatten the curve of this pandemic in the country. Among these measures communicated by the President include observing social distancing to help reduce the rate of spread.
The decision by the authorities to shut down the markets was after the less concern shown by the market women to the precautionary measures put in place to help fight the deadly virus. The social distancing directive by the President has been totally ignored by the market women in the Bosomtwe District particularly those in Kuntenase, Jachie and Aputuogya areas.
There is no doubt that, the other precautionary measures like regular hand washing, wearing nose cover among others will also be flouted by the residents in these areas. The market women depicted non-compliance to the social distancing order by the President.
Ghana's case count keeps increasing day-in and day-out and looking at the rate at which this deadly virus is fast-spreading in different countries, Ghana may not afford to face the same kind of situation. This called for the authorities in the Bosomtwe District to shut down market activities in these areas in a bid to fight out the virus from the country.
