Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president of the Republic of Ghana in a press briefing has said that, 461,339 depositors of savings and loans as well as microfinance institutions have beem paid for their locked - up funds or investments.
He however said that, about 3,745 persons of depositors have not been paid and this is due to the fact that, third parties were involved in their transactions and as such needs to be thoroughly investigated before their monies are released to them.
He further made known his disappointment in the then managers of the Central Bank for their poor supervision of the savings and loans as well as the microfinances for spearheading a poor structured system of banking.
He concluded by saying that, the rest of the depositors will have their money as soon as the investigation is over and won't hesitate to deal with institutions who engaged in illegal banking.
