UWR: NYA holds youth dialogues in Wa

The Upper West Regional Director of National Youth Authority, Archibald Dankor has said the quest for sustainable development in the region has reach appreciable proportions through the alignment of the country’s developmental priorities to the achievement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mr Dankor said that the SDGs forms the framework for sustainable of the country, urging the youth to contribute their quotas towards the achievement of the SDGs. He has said this in Wa on Monday, December 1, 2020 during a youth dialogue organized the National Youth Authority in partnership with Plan International (Ghana) on the theme, “Engagement of the Youth in Development Related Decision Making”.

The Director has said that, the NYA together with its partners will continue dialogue with the youth to create meaningful participation in decision-making and entrepreneurial development.

A social entrepreneur who is also an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist, Maria Johana Yuorpor has urged youth to be innovative and source business opportunities within their immediate environments. She said they should not sit in the house and fold their arms in between their legs saying there are no jobs.

Madam Johana further urged the youth to make use of their phones and the internet to undertake short training courses and learn new skills. She said these days everything can be learnt at a click on the phone.

Another woman entrepreneur, Wendy Sungsuma has also tasked the youth to adopt digital marketing strategies in doing business. She said they should use their phones to make money instead only feeding the phone with their monies.

The Dialogue brought together youths of the Upper West Region, entrepreneurs and key government agencies to provide mentorship and broaden the horizons of the youth.
