DCOP Kofi Boakye snubbed again as Akufo Addo appoints new IGP(Acting)

Dr. George Akufo Dampare.

President of the republuc of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has appointed a new acting IGP in the person of C.O.P Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

In a statement signed by Mr. Eugene Arhin, Director of communications at the presidency, the president asked the present IGP, Mr Oppong Boanuh to proceed on terminal leave on 1st August 2021 pending retirement on 7th October 2020.

The acting IGP however begins his work on the 1st of August 2021.

Ghanaians received this news with mixed reactions; on one side a lot of Ghanaians believed the president made the best choice considering the track record of the newly appointed Dr. Akufo Dampare.

On another side some Ghanaians believed that DCOP Kofi Boakye, former Ashanti regional police commander has really distinguished himself and should have been given the nod this time around.

It is however worthy of note that even those who believed DCOP Kofi Boakye should have been given the chance still "agree with" the president on his choice.
