NSS Gives Update On Personnels With Post On Hold Status

The Management of the Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS) says it will within this week release the postings of personnel with ‘posting on hold’ status for them to commence their one-year mandatory service to the nation.

Mrs Gifty Oware Mensah, the Deputy Executive Director of the NSS, in an interview on Joynew on Friday 15th October 2021 said that, personnel with on-hold status are those who registered late for national service amid issues of verification.

“For the posting on hold, there are some graduates who registered late for national service because they had this issues of verified and authentication but they are going to be posted within this week,” the NSS official stated.

The Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS) early this month released the 2021/2022 academic year national service postings of prospective graduates from accredited institutions who registered to serve the nation for a year.

A total of 81,081 tertiary graduates were qualified to be posted to various user agencies across the country. However, the Service placed on hold the postings of some personnel it said detected mistakes in their online registration.

“Some prospective personnel have been placed on hold for further verification due to discrepancies in their online registration details. Notifications have been sent to the affected personnel,” the National Service said in the release.

It added that “they are to visit any regional office of NSS with a copy of enrolment forms, Students ID, any national ID and soft copy of their passport picture save with their NSS number as a file name to clear them for postings.”

Asked if the allowance of the 2021/2022 year service personnel would be increased, the NSS Deputy Executive Director said her outfit is considering increasing the allowance next year but that will be for the 2022/2023 service batch.

“We are planning to increase the allowance of the service personnel in the coming year because NSS personnel are paid through the government coffers, so maybe in the next coming year we could increase the allowance,” Gifty said.
