Nkrumah was born in the Ghanaian town of Koforidua, in the Eastern Region. Kwame Oppong Nkrumah and Felicia Oppong Nkrumah are his parents. His mother was a teacher, while his father began his career as a teacher before going on to become a banker. He was born in the town of Akim Anyinase.
Nkrumah received his primary school education at St. Bernadette Soubirous School in Dansoman, followed his secondary school education at Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in Koforidua, and later studied at the University of Cape Coast, earning a bachelor's degree in commerce. He earned his MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana, Legon, in 2012.
In 2006, Nkrumah began his job at British American Tobacco as a Treasury Analyst. After the resignation of host Komla Dumor, he moved on to Joy FM as a broadcast journalist, hosting the Super Morning Show. Nkrumah left broadcasting in 2014 to start West Brownstone Capital, an investing firm. He became a lawyer in 2016 and worked at Kulendi, Attafuah, and Amponsah at law.
In 2015, he ran for and won the NPP parliamentary primary in Ghana's Eastern Region for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency.
During the 2016 Ghanaian general elections, he won this parliamentary seat.
He served as Ghana's Minister of Informationand is the Economy Cabinet Spokesperson.
He was also a member of the Finance and Constitutional Affairs Committees.
President Nana Akufo-Addo named Kojo Nkrumah as the designee for information after he won the 2020 elections.
