While the dust is yet to settle on whether Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah is affected by Phar Rangers five years suspension, a section of Asante Kotoko supporters expect the Board of Directors to be up and doing and appoint a new CEO.
Directors of the club were handed similar punishment, that is, a five-year suspension.
Per the ruling by the Disciplinary Committee, Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah could be affected if continues to serve as one of the directors of Phar Rangers.
The ruling has received varied interpretations and pronouncements by lawyers within and outside the football circle and astute football administrators.
Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie shared an opinion;
“The GFA ruling on Phar Rangers is WRONG and BAD. Okraku Kurt wouldn't have been an FA President if the GFA had banned the Board of Directors and the Shareholders of Dreams FC when they were banned” He told Pure FM.
“I have told Phar Rangers to appeal the Disciplinary Committee decision and I strongly believe that the decision would be overturned. How can you ban a shareholder without a charge?”
Nana Yaw Amponsah And Asante Kotoko
In the midst of the storm, Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have rendered an unflinching support to their Chief Executive Officer.
Not only the club that is rooting for its leader but also some loyal supporters. They have taken to various social media platforms to express appreciation for the what Nana Yaw Amponsah has done for the club, looking ahead for lots of success from his administration. They urged him to focus on elevating the status of the team and not be swayed by irrelevant matters such as this ruling by the Disciplinary Committee.
In another twist, former management member of Asante Kotoko Afrifa Yaw Amoah Ponkoh believes the Board of Directors of Asante Kotoko must react if the five-year suspension affects Nana Yaw Amponsah;
“As far as I am concerned, Asante Kotoko do not have a case with the Ghana Football Association. If it is established that the ban on Phar Rangers affects Asante Kotoko’s CEO, it means the board of directors have to quickly react.” He told Light FM.
New Chief Executive Officer For Asante Kotoko?
It has not been clearly established and defined, per law, if Nana Yaw is engulfed in the Phar Rangers matter. If there is any, the club will need to hit the gear running for a smooth and successful operation.
Asante Kotoko must as a matter of urgency, be concerned about the state of their CEO, behind the scenes.
Although Nana Yaw Amponsah is still at post as Kotoko’s CEO, but Yaw Amoah Ponkoh suggests the qualities that must be looked out for in the next Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko.
“He must be competent, qualified and equally strong. I believe in credentials as well. We should look for someone who is fearless and experienced. With Kotoko’s experience you can walk into any job. The Board of Directors must be on top of issues and give a best management.”
