Teacher Unions: Important Notice to Teachers with anomalies of upgrading of Salary 2018 and beyond 

Teacher Unions, Ghana National Association of Teachers(GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers(NAGRAT) and Coalition of Concern Teachers(CCT)are collecting data from teachers who have not been upgraded to their respective salary scale for Onward submission to Ghana Education Service for processing. 

Mr. Angel Carbonu, General Secretary of National Association of Graduate Teachers(NAGRAT) indicated that most teachers have not been paid responsibility allowance and upgrading of Salary to their respective salary scale, teacher unions are collecting data from members to be submitted to Ghana Education Service. 

Teachers who have not been placed on their respective salary scale and those who have not been paid responsibility allowance are to fill a template in their respective districts and regional offices, the templates are available at district and regional Secretariat of NAGRAT, GNAT and CCT. 

Teachers who pass promotion interview or examination and qualified for promotion are promoted and automatically put on scale and salary adjusted to reflect to their new salary scale. 

Teachers who upgrade themselves through further studies have to apply for upgrading and salary adjustment to their new rank. Some teachers who went on further studies have not been upgraded to their new salary scale since 2018.

Previously when a teacher return from study leave, the teacher apply for upgrading and adjustment of salary, Teachers upgrading and adjustment of salary takes effect from September, the year the teacher graduated from the University. 

Upgrading and salary adjustment are delayed by the authorities in charge and salary scale takes effect on the month the process are completed. The delay which was not caused by teacher, the teacher will have to forfeit the salary difference within the period of delay. 

Teacher unions have called on government to settle all outstanding upgrading and salary adjustment.
