Why And How The Sudden Departure of Playmaker Joseph Esso Could Cost Hearts Of Oak Immensely.

Unprecedented news has just hit Ghanaians that one - time CAF Champions League winners and Ghanaian giant Hearts Of Oak has parted ways with five of their players.

It hit Ghanaians, especially the fanatics of Accra Hearts of Oak like a storm that "Joseph Esso" , Bernard Arthur, Christopher Bonney, Benjamin Agyare and Traore Abubakar have all parted ways with the club.

Why did Hearts Of Oak's best player Joseph Esso decide to part ways with the club? Joseph Esso was kind of the Eden Hazard type when he was at Chelsea - Hazard carried Chelsea on his back for many years, so did Joseph Esso do in these two years . Esso was arguably Hearts Of Oak's best player in the 2018 Normalization League and the league that was halted because of the covid-19 pandemic.

They have parted ways with five of their players - it is very rare for number of players like this one decide to leave a football club.

Is it because of money issues as usual? News broke couple days ago that Heart Of Oak reportedly owe their players. In the news, it was reported that Heart Of Oak owes its players and technical staff four months salary arrears but have been able to pay two months and are confident to pay the rest of the arrears in the coming weeks. If all these are true, then I think these players left the club due to unpaid arrears.

Hearts allowing Joseph Esso go would cost them dearly. The current Hearts Of Oak is not the Hearts we knew in the early 2000s where the departure of one key player would not affect the team's performance on the pitch.

The departure of Charles Taylor, Stephen Appiah, Sammy Adjei and other great players in the Hearts of Oak team couldn't affect the team's play in anyway.

Since these great Hearts Of Oak players who won the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup departed the club, the club's performance has been sheerly poor and have not been able to win any trophy in a decade now.

One reason is that the subsequent players have not been able to continue the winning ways and legacy of their predecessors. Hearts Of Oak have not had the likes of Emmanuel Osei Kiffuor, Charles Taylor, Ishmael Addo, Dan Quaye and the rest anymore since their departure.

A team like Hearts Of Oak have not been able to qualify for CAF Champions League for years now - it would be unfathomable if people had predicted this in the early 2000s. A team that dominated Africa in the 2000s not being able to win a trophy in years now and even can't qualify for the Champions League is hard to believe but that is the reality.

It was just last two years that the fans started having a little faith that their team could return to their glorious days.

One player that the Hearts Of Oak supporters had hopes that he could put the team back to their winning ways was Joseph Esso.

Now that the supporters have the hope that they could return to the CAF Champions League and could win the Ghana Premier League title has been doused due to the departure of teenage sensation and their star player Joseph Esso.

This could affect the team's play on the pitch because Heart Of Oak always depended on Joseph Esso to pull off a magic for them in their matches and he did that for them always. Who would the team now depend on if they are loosing or need a goal to win.

New signee Abednego Tetteh is there to bang in the goals, but a striker like his calibre needs a playmaker like Joseph Esso to help him score with ease. Kofi Kordzi is a great and strong player but he can't be a playmaker ; he is not the type of player that can unexpectedly create a chance out of nowhere and when needed at crucial times.

The departure of Joseph Esso will hurt Hearts Of Oak in many ways, and allowing him to depart should have been one way or the other stopped. He could have been persuaded but Hearts didn't care and that would cost them.

Please share your opinions on the departure of Joseph Esso and the repercussions that will come. Share this article and follow me for more of in-depth article like this. Thank you.
