Out of the currents statistics of the infection, Africa alone has more than two hundred thousand confirmed cases of the corona virus disease across it continents. According to the latest data by the John Hopkins University and Africa Centre of Disease Control on Covid-19 in Africa, the breakdown remains fluid as countries confirm cases as and when they occur. As of May 13th 2020, every African country had recorded an infection, the last being Lesotho.
Africa as at June 11th 2020 at 21:50 GMT, has two hundred and sixteen thousand, two hundred and fifty nine(216259) confirmed cases of corona virus disease. The number of deaths due to corona virus disease in Africa as at the time stated above stands at five thousand eight hundred and thirty seven(5837) ninety nine thousand and twenty six recoveries(99026) as well hundred and eight thousand five hundred and sixty(108560) active cases. 1. South Africa; South African is leading the African continent with fifty eight thousand five hundred and sixty eight confirmed cases of the virus disease(58568). The country has documented thirty three thousand two hundred and fifty two(33252) recoveries with one thousand two hundred and ten(1210) death. This makes the country the number one on the continent of Africa with leading cases of corona virus disease both active cases and death as well as recoveries. Western cape of South Africa has twenty seven thousand and six(27006) confirmed cases, Eastern cape has four thousand nine hundred and thirty six(4936), Guateng has four thousand eight hundred and forty five(4845), Kwazulu natal has two thousand eight hundred and sixty nine(2869) whiles North West has three hundred and and sixty four(364).
2. Egypt; Egypt is the next country after South Africa which has recorded higher number of cases of the corona virus disease as at the time stated in this article. Egypt as at 11 June 2020, the time of 21; 50 GMT, has a total of thirty nine thousand seven hundred and twenty six(39726) confirmed cases of the corona virus disease. Egypt has documented ten thousand six hundred and ninety one(10691) recoveries with one thousand three hundred and seventy seven(1377) deaths.
3. Algeria; currents statistics from John Hopkins confirms that Algeria has a total confirmed case of ten thousand five hundred and eighty nine (10589) with seven thousand two hundred and fifty five(7255) recoveries and seven hundred and forty one death(741).
4. Nigeria is also not represented well as it has recorded thirteen thousand eight hundred and seventy three (13873) confirmed cases of the corona virus disease. Nigeria has documented four thousand three hundred and fifty one(4351) recoveries with three hundred and eighty two(382) deaths.
5. Ghana; Ghana's cases has gradually moved from the hundreds column to chase those in the thousands. The country has now recorded ten thousand three hundred and fifty eight (10358) with three thousand eight hundred and twenty four recoveries(3824) and forty eight(48) death. The capital region of the country; Accra remains the region with the highest number of corona virus disease cases.
6. Cameroon. Cameroon appears on the 6th position with a total of eight thousand nine hundred and twenty nine(8929) confirmed cases. Their death toll is at two hundred and eight(208) with four thousand eight hundred and thirty six( 4836) recoveries.
7. Morocco; Morocco has documented eight thousand five hundred and thirty seven(8537) confirmed cases of the corona virus diseases. The number of patients that had recovered fully from the disease stands at seven thousand five hundred and eighty three(7583) with two hundred and eleven(211) death.
8. Making it to the 8th position on the top ten of African countries with higher number of corona virus disease case is Sudan. Sudan has confirmed six thousand five hundred and eighty two(6582) cases, with two thousand two hundred and two (2202) recoveries and four hundred and one(401) death.
9. Senegal cannot be left out of the scene, coming in the 9th position with four thousand seven hundred and fifty nine (4759) confirmed cases. It has also documented two thousand nine hundred and ninety four (2994) recoveries with fifty one (51) death.
10 Coming final on the list of first ten countries within the continent of Africa with high corona virus disease cases is the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dr. Congo has recorded four thousand five hundred and fifteen (4515) confirmed cases with their death toll standing at ninety eight (98) and five hundred and sixty seven (567) recoveries.
