The highly contested National Science and Math Quiz begun on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
Due Covid-19 and its associated challenges, the program organizers PrimeTime decided to start the National Preliminary stages from the various regions.
The 2020 National Science and Math Quiz started with Greater Accra Region Schools. The competed schools qualified earlier this year for the National challenge.
In the past years, the preliminary stage competition starts at the national level. Winners automatically qualifies for the next stage. Losers with high accumulated marks also join the winners to the next stage.
To prevent large numbers of competing schools convergence at University of Ghana, the organizers decided to start this year’s National Science and Math Quiz from the regional level competition.
It begun with some qualified Greater Accra senior high schools. The winners automatically qualifies for the next stage which will be held in University of Ghana.
Today, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS defeated St. Mary’s SHS and GHANATA SHS in the first contest held.
In the third and the last contest for the day, OLAM SHS came back to defeat St. Margaret Mary SHS and West Africa SHS to book a slot to the next stage to be held in University of Ghana in a later date.
