The Ghana Police Service is a Public Service Organisation under the Ministry of Interior . The Police Service was created by the colonial administration to produce an enabling environment for commerce through the maintenance of law and order as well as arrest and prosecute people who fall foul of laws.
One of the main goals of the men in uniform is to protect lives and properties. In Walewale a 15-year old boy has been shot in the thigh and left to his fate.
The 15 year old identified as Yussif was shot by a police personnel in Walewale a surburb of Tamale and it is unknown what caused such tragic incident. The ailing boy was sent to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and is said to be receiving treatment at the facility.
The officer is yet to be identified as the victim is said to be responding to treatment slowly.
The service has come under a barage of verbal attacks after a Facebook user posted the unfortunate incident on his wall. The Police Service is yet to issue a statement on the issue.
