Music is an art of universal cultural societies. It is a sound art that expresses emotions in different forms through rhythm, melody and harmony. Music is something that has existed many years ago and is still existing. The impact of music on human lives cannot be underrated, it is massive especially when it comes to human health. Some people enjoy singing, others just enjoy listening to music while some also prefer to dance to complement the music being played. There are different genres of music.
Music can be divided into genres in varying ways, such as popular music and art music, or religious music and secular music. Whichever one a person decides to listen to is based on their choices and beliefs. There are some people who believe that circular music is not good due to religious reasons, hence they always listen to religious songs. There are also people who listen to circular music and there are those who combine everything. Some also do not mind about the type of music, as long as the beat and sound is in their favor, they go ahead to listen. Regardless of the song one chooses to listen to there is always a form of benefit that comes with listening to music. Here are some benefits of listening to music.
Music lightens up the mood. Music is something that can help regulate emotions and create happiness. Sometimes one may be feeling down and may not be in the mood to do anything. However, listening to music can sometimes lighten up the mood and make a person feeling down feel happier.
Music also helps make work less tiring and enjoyable. It is common to see someone carry out their daily activities or work while playing music to complement the work they are engaged in. People sing while washing, cooking, cleaning and so many other things. When this happens the mind is shifted away from the stress of the work. The work then becomes enjoyable instead of tiring.
Music also provides a form of comfort to individuals especially those feeling sad. Sometimes people feel sad and lonely and have no one to talk to. Listening to music when one feels that way can be helpful. The lyrics of some music are encouraging and can make one overcome their troubles. For instance people who get broken hearted can feel better after listening to music that reminds them of their self worth. People who also feel like giving up on life due to challenges are sometimes motivated through music.
Music helps people to sleep better. Studies have shown that soothing music can lower the heart rate and relax the body. When the body is relaxed, falling asleep becomes easy. Playing music before bed can also improve sleep efficiency and quality of sleep. When one’s sleep efficiency is improved, the person is less likely to wake up in the middle of the night.
Music is therefore very important in our lives especially in the health aspect. However it is not always that music helps someone. One’s choice of music also counts. There are some songs that can make a person feel more depressed rather than happy. It all depends on the choice of song and the lyrics of the song as well.
