Today let us find out the current states of these two castles.
The cape Coast castle was built in 1555 by the Portuguese to enhance their trading activities but later ended up in a slave trade zone where people were kept before being sent abroad.
The castle has become a tourist site and many people visit there each and everyday.
This is the current state of the cape coast castle. It is in a very fine position as the government is much focussed on ensuring the protection of all government properties.
Aside the Cape Coast castle, there is one big Castle in Elmina which is called the Elmina castle. It was established in the year 1482 and it is the oldest European building.
This is the current state of it and it looks to be well managed after it has been in existence for over 500 years.
