In a letter issued by the Acting General Director, Mr. John Mensah Anang, NaCCA said these books have not approved for use in our schools and they also contains content of inappropriate references to personalities and ethnic groups which is deemed unfortunate and does not conform to the requirement of the Standard-Based Curriculum currently in use.
The Books and the authors/publication house include, “History of Ghana for Basic Four (4), by Golden Publications”, “History of Ghana Book 3, by Badu Nkansah Publication” and “History of Ghana for Basic Six (6) also by Golden Publications.”
Management of NaCCA has already met the leaders of the Publication House to withdraw the said books and any other book out there which is in other ways not conforming to the SBC. NaCCA says a total of 1,107 approved textbooks have been provided with 370 supplementary materials which have been assessed and can be accessed on the agency’s official wesite to cater for the Standard-based Curriculum introduced in 2019.
