Why your phone's screen goes off during calls

Using a smartphone has comes with a huge cost. Even though device make communication easy, it normally requires Internet connection to function to full capacity.

There are several functions performed by smartphone. One of the these functions is " automatically locking of screen during calls". The component of the smartphone that is responsible for this is the "proximity sensor".

The promxity sensor is placed under the OLED display. The sensor is able to detect bodies or objects through electromagnetic radiation.

The automatic locking of the screen during calls prevents the you from touching other which could interrupt the call. Again, the locked LED or OLED screen reduces the effect of light energy on the user's eye.

Apart from the proximity sensor, there sensors that differentiate between a smartphone and old phone. They are the Ambient Light sensor, Digital Compass, Gyroscope and Accelerometer.
