Snapchat announces Pixy which is a tiny drone with a camera

The Explode, the parent company of the social network snap chat has announce the pixie, It is his first small drone. It has a camera that is used to take pictures and movies, and as you can imagine, it has Snapchat integration.

The Pixy mini-drone has a sensor capable of capturing 12MP images and shooting at 2.7K at 30fps. In addition, it weighs only 101 grams.

The device is designed to fly without the need for a command, and instead follow four specific flight paths. The drone can track you as a target for 60 seconds at a distance of 2-3 meters. The orbit path allows the drone to take off from your hand and circle around you. The Hover function allows the aircraft to stay in the same place for 60 seconds and track its movements from one location. Finally, the Reveal function allows the drone to return to itself at a certain distance. You can also create custom flight paths in the app snap chatas well as forcing the drone to land manually.

Once you take the photo or video, you can transfer it to your smartphone (wired or wireless) to find it in the Snapchat app. According to Snap, the tiny drone has a capacity of 16GB and can store up to 1,000 photos or 100 videos. Also, it is worth noting that it is possible to export content to your smartphone for use other than Snapchat.

As for battery life, Snap says the lithium-ion battery can last between 5 and 8 trips. It recharges from 0 to 80% in 20 minutes via its USB-C port.

Snapchat’s compact drone is now available for purchase in two countries at the moment: the United States and France for €274.99. It will take 11-12 weeks for delivery, so please be patient.
