When you were a teenager, how did you imagine your life when you’re all ‘grown up’?
Did you want to grow up to be an actor, a doctor, an athlete, an architect or a pilot?
Did you want to travel the world, raise a family, run a business or make a difference?
What were your dreams and aspirations, just before you joined the ‘real world’, the ‘grown-ups world’?
And, when you remember those dreams today, how many of them became a reality?
Hopefully, your life is going great and you are living the life of your dreams.
But if not (or not yet), here are signs that you might be wasting your life… although you’d probably don’t want to admit it:
1. You can't imagine living without your phone:
It seems to me that the smarter our phones become, the more stupid we become.
For one week, write down exactly how many hours a day you waste by texting, emailing, Facebooking, playing games, commenting on your life or the lives of others – instead of living in the moment.
If the number of hours shocks you… do something about it.
2.You let distractions and interruptions fill your day:
Your time is your most precious asset and the fastest way to waste it is by allowing distractions (like constantly checking our email and social media feeds) and interruptions (like answering every phone call and text message immediately and saying yes to every “got a minute?” request) to fill up your day.
Make one day a week distraction/interruption free day, and your life will never be the same.
3. You spend a big part of your week doing things you shouldn't be doing:
We all have our list of things we do that wastes our time, like watching TV, hanging out on Facebook, surfing the internet, playing video games, pointlessly arguing, reading the newspaper…
Where are you spending most of your time? Is it leading to a better life? Is it getting you closer to live the life of your dreams?
If not, then it’s time to make some changes.
4. You often find yourself complaining, blaming and making excuses:
Do you complain about your job, the taxes or the weather or blame your boss, your spouse or the government or make excuses for being late, for not having enough money, for not being generous?
These victim habits keep you stuck…
It’s time to take responsibility for your life.
5. You dont take care of your mind:
When you don’t keep growing and learning, your mind falls asleep and decay. If you don’t want to develop dementia in a later stage of your life, you better challenge your brain to expand your mind.
When you’re ready to really take care of your mind… then join the Nisandeh Unplugged Facebook group and take a few minutes to watch the video question I post there every single day.
