The Vice President his Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Communication and Digitization ministry has lay down plans to ensure that each and every Ghanaian with a registered SIM card will re register them with the Ghana card or may Stand the chance of loosing their number or be rendered inactive.
According to the vice president, this is part of plans or path taken to help eliminate cyberspace fraud totally from our country.
In a speech delivered at the 5th Ghana CEO summit in Accra, the Vice President stated emphatically that citizens who fail to re -register or partake in this exercise will stand the chance of making their sim cards rendered inactive.
"I expect that the minister for Communication and Digitization ( Mrs Ursula Owusu Akuffo) will soon announce the date for the registration of the sim cards maybe by the end of June or early July this year. Each and everyone will have to register their sim cards with National ID (Ghana Card)." He said .
He further stated that "we will have to do that otherwise we will lose our SIM cards. That will really give us a real identity for all Mobile Money transactions."
He said he believes this will go a long way to help stop fraud that takes place like sim box and all that happens through mobile money.
