NEW: Teacher Unions (GNAT NAGRAT & CCT-GH give CAGD ultimatum to make payment of GESOPS benefits

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers-Ghana (CCT-GH) have expressed their displeasure towards the inability of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) to make payment of the Ghana Education Service Occupational Pension Scheme (GESOPS) funds for the past four months.

“We write to inform you that our checks with our Fund Board i.e Ghana Education Service Occupational Pension Scheme (GESOPS) revealed that, for the past four months, the Controller & Accountant General Department (CAGD) has not remitted monies due we the teachers in the country, to the Ghana Education Service Occupational Pension Scheme”, the statement explained.

According to a press statement shared with listengh.net, the leadership of the three most vibrant teacher unions has revealed that this situation is therefore denying teachers their investment benefits.

They however sounded a warning to the CAGD to make payment by the close of Monday, 8th February 2021 to prevent the matter from escalating and CAGD will be liable for the situation.

“We wish to sound this warning, that if by close of day. Monday, 8 February 2021, the said monies do not hit the Fund accounts we the teacher unions have no other option than to advise ourselves, and the CAGD would have itself to blame”, they cautioned.
