Continuous Weakening Of Cedi To The US Dollar Is Collapsing Our Businesses - Spare Parts Dealers.

Spare parts dealers and artisans at the Kumasi Suame Magazine have raised concerns about the continuous weakening of the cedis to the United States Dollars.

The group describe the situation as panicking of which it could jeopardize their businesses if nothing is done to reverse the trend.

Speaking to the Opera News Correspondent in an interview on behalf of the artisans and spare parts dealers, the Managing Director of Basfam Co Ltd, Alhaji Musah Abubakar underscored that the future of the businesses at Suame Magazine stands bleak.

He added that the situation needs immediate intervention to redeem it.

The Director reiterated that the unstable rate of which the dollar is running posed a serious threat to not only their businesses but also to the effective function of modern technology and the advanced skills training activities of artisans at the Suame Magazine.

According to Abubakar, it is now time the authorities of Suame Magazine should wake up and enforce measures to arrest the situation before it is too late.

He indicated that though Suame Magazine was formerly one of the best artisans points in the West Africa sub region, its current situation can no more compete with any artisans workshops in the sub region in terms of technological advancement.

Abubakar hinted that considering technology as one of the important factors that bring development, the artisans in collaboration with some chiefs planned to rebrand Suame Magazine but their efforts was treated with contempt as a result of financial constraint.

Suame Magazine has no business direction as several letters written to seek help for the revival of area attract less attention, A hub ajar indicated.

Our major challenge now boarders on the dollar and cedi fluctuations that tend to be collapsing our businesses, and therefore we humbly appeal for government intervention, Mr Musah Abubakar concluded.
