I sell PACKAGED Fufu, Banku, Kokonte on the streets because I have no other choice.

I am Eunice Ganyo, a proud ewe. I completed SHS at Anum Senior High School in 2018 but due to financial problems, I have not been able to further my education. My father died years ago and it has affected my family and I very much since our mother was our only source of living. I have four siblings and I am the first child, therefore placing a lot of pressure on me to provide for my family.

I currently sell food on the streets of Accra and surprisingly, these foods are heavy foods like ‘banku, kokonte, fufu and omo tuo’. No one would like to be selling foods like these in the streets but due to a couple of reasons, it had to be that way. We have a local restaurant, where we cook these dishes and sell them. It came to our notice that those who usually buy our foods worked on the streets and they sometimes find it difficult to come all the way to our restaurant since it’s a bit far to have their meals and they might lose customers.

Looking at that, we decided to bring the food to them on their call so they just have to place an order and the food would be delivered at their workplaces. And so far, it has been working out quite well as the foods have been selling at its best. I was not into this business before because my mom started it, but I took it upon myself to reduce the stress it places on her.

My dreams were to be a nurse and I’m still pursuing it but God knows best whether I’m breaking through with this business or I’ll have to go back to school when I have the financial means.
