Ghana's Economy Is Eighth Strongest Economy In The Sub-region - Sylvester Tetteh Reveals

Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Honorable Sylvester Tetteh has reacted to the debate in town about which government in the fourth republic has performed worst in terms of managing the economy.

In an interview on Metro TV this morning, the member of parliament revealed that it is wrong for any person to say that the Akufo Addo led administration is the worst government in the history of the country. He added that such comment is an unfortunate one.

He further stated that Ghana's current economy is the 8th strongest economy in the sub region. He added that amongst 16 west African countries, Ghana's economy is the eighth strongest. He said this to prove the opposition wrong that Ghana's economy is not the worst in the world or the worst in Ghana's history as most of them say.

"To say that this Ghana economy is the worst economy in the Ghana's history is quite unfortunate. Today, as we speak, Ghana is the eighth strongest economy in the sub region(West Africa). I am telling you these facts. The forex is not only the determining factor to determine the strength of our economy" he stated.

After making this statement, he sent a bold message to various international organizations who always get quick to downgrade Africa countries. He added that the grading of countries is necessary but they shouldn't put their focus on only Africa.

He also revealed that there are several factors that may lead to the downgrade of a country. According to him, all factors must be checked and considered before they come into their findings. He added that the economy is not doing well but it is better than several African countries.

Below are some reactions on social media following his comments on Metro TV.

It could be seen from the reactions above that most Ghanaians are not in support of what the MP said. They believe that he is only making mere statements without any evidence to prove himself right.
