Dating back to 2015, the current sitting Member of Parliament Hon. Lawyer Bede A. Ziedeng commenced an agricultural Social Intervention by setting up an Agric Mechanization Center in the Lawra constituency. He brought down four (4) complete sets of tractors and rolled out this project in 2015 during the farming season and there was a mad rush for his tractor services because such tractor services were not available and more to the point, the subsidized nature of his tractor services in the Lawra constituency made it affordable for the farmers. He subsidized his tractor services by 30% compared to other private service providers who came from Techiman and Wenchi.
He has continued providing this excellent social intervention up to date and it is the most highly cherished and ever patronised social intervention in the Lawra constituency since its inception and implementation.
Farmers who want to access the service are required to register in the various zones with coordinators. An itinerary is drawn at the beginning of every farming season showing when the tractors would be deployed into zones as well as the communities to plough for all those who have registered.
This year 2021, the exercise is running in the constituency and the tractors are in the field. The good news is that, this year, the current sitting Member of Parliament for Lawra Hon. Lawyer Bede A. Ziedeng has further reduced the cost of the tractor services to 60% just to make the tractor services more affordable to the constituents of Lawra constituency.
It is a fact that in the history of the Upper West Region, this social intervention is the first of its kind being provided to constituents by a Member of Parliament.
There is no doubt that the good people of Lawra constituency are forever grateful to the current Member of Parliament for Lawra constituency Hon. Lawyer Bede A.
