Reacting to the report by Bloomberg and the Finance Minister's response, the former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yammin, has stated that he doesn't need Bloomberg or any international institutions to tell him that Ghana's economy is in distress because it's so obvious.
Joseph Yammin made this statement on 'Good Morning Africa' on Pan Africa television this morning, 18th January 2022, when he gave his opinion on Bloomberg's report about Ghana's economy.
According to Joseph Yammin, the Ministry of Finance will never agree with Bloomberg that the country is in distress because they can still fly the president in a 15000 dollars per hour private jet.
Joseph Yammin indicated that the Finance Minister and the NPP should be able to tell us boldly that the country is not in distress because they can raise monies for renting private jets for President Akufo Addo.
"Today, Bloomberg has brought out research or a survey, and Saka Salia is here saying that they should stop rating us, but he never had that position when they was in opposition."
Joseph Yammin asked if Ghana is in a better position today that is why the finance minister and the NPP want to tell us that the research that has been conducted by Bloomberg should be thrown to the gutters because Ghana is not in distress?
He asked if we need the Finance Minister to come and tell us that the country is not in distress, and if the country is not in distress, will we be buying fuel at higher prices?
"I don't need Bloomberg to come and tell me that we are in distress. We don't need Bloomberg's rating to tell us that we are being ruled by an incompetent government. I don't need these foreign institutions to come and tell me that we have a president who doesn't understand anything about governance."
Joseph Yammin added that he doesn't need anybody to come and tell him that we are being ruled by a party that does not fit in any way to manage an enterprise, and not to talk of a country. He said that what this government has done is to bring the image of these countries down.
