The price of maize has increased this year in the northern region as compared to the previous years prices.
According to the residents in both Yendi and Bimbilla municipalities, the price of maize in the previous years was cooled for lower income earners to buy and feed their families.

But the price of maize in this early days of January 2021, if not declined will bring hunger to most families
In comparison, the highest price of maize in the previous years was two cedis fifty pesewas Gh€2.50 per one bowl. But as of this year, the price of maize has increased to five cedis Gh€5.00 per one bowl.
There has been hundred percent increment and they said the price may rise to Gh€10.00 during the period of June - July 2021.

What might have caused this? Most Farmers in the area have not farm maize and have made their minds to buy some during the harvesting period.
Unfortunately, there has been scarcity of maize as a result of low planting.
