The banking industry within the Ghanaian space will soon adopt the Ghana national identification card as the prime source of documentation for banking transaction by clients.
Talks are ongoing reaching a major state and strategic plans to reach the goal on when the decision to that effect will be made.
A report on Joy Business suggest the Chief executive of the Ghana Association of Banks, John Awuah saying banks will soon communicate to costumers about the usage of only the Ghana national identification card as the prime source of documentation for making banking transaction and customers getting information from banks on how the cards will be used.
He also talked about how the Ghana national identification card affectionately called Ghana card will be used along other identification cards until a law is passed on for the use of solely the Ghana card as the prime use of banking transactions.
The Ghana national identification card is gradually becoming a sole source of identification card as the vice president of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia communicated to the Ghanaian public on the re - registration of SIM cards using the Ghana card to prevent cyber space fraud. He made it known that this exercise will be communicated to the public on when it will commence and a deadline will also be communicated.
The Ghana national identification card numbers will soon be used as tax identification number (TIN) and social security and national insurance trust (SSNIT) as announced by the President of Ghana Nana Akuffo - Addo making the Ghana card very important in a short possible time.
