The Paramount Chief of the Savelugu traditional area, Yoo Naa Yakubu Abdulai Andani, along with six other persons have been sworn in to serve on the board of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. The board which is to be chaired by Freddy Blay, National chairman of the New Patriotic Party has been charged to be diligent in their deliberations and to allow the nation’s interest supersede any other in partnership and in operations.
Speaking after administering the oath of office to Members, Energy Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, also admonished the board deepen its local content strategies by leveraging on best practices across the world and to adopt the posturing of aggressive exploration in order to add to Ghana’s oil reserves . The Minister noted that the mandate of the GNPC was to exercise oversight responsibility and to ensure the oil resources of this country become beneficial to present and future generations.
Board Chairman, Mr. Freddy Blay, on behalf of the members, expressed appreciation to the President for trusting in their ability and for the appointment to serve on the GNPC’s board. He pledged the Board’s commitment to work in harmony with the Energy Minister for collective growth and advancement.
Other members on the Board are Chief Executive Officer, Dr. KK Saropng, Mr. Martin Kwakye, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, Mr. Yaw Kyei, Yoo Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai V and Mad. Ama Gyamfuah Abrefa
