I Worked For Ghana Without Taking Salary Nor Exgratia- Dr Kwabena Duffuor

National Democratic Congress stalwart, Dr Kwabena Duffuor has revealed that he didn't not receive salary from the state throughout the four years he served as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning.

Speaking in an interview on Asampa FM on Tuesday, Mr Duffour said he elected not to receive salary from the state but to serve the nation four years under President Evans Atta Mills as the Finance Minister.

More revealing is the fact that Dr Duffour did not take home exgratia although he was entitled to receive same. The former Governor of Bank of Ghana also indicated that he did not depend on the state for his transportation needs or payment of utilities.

Although he was served the nation without receiving salary, Dr Duffuor said he gave out his best in ensuring that the economy was healthy.

Dr Kwabena Duffuor is credited as one of the best Finance Ministers Ghana has ever had. Under his tenure, Ghana's economy recorded a single digit inflation for 33 months.

It was therefore not surprising that in 2011, the IMF and World Bank recognized Dr Duffuor as the best Finance Minister in Africa.

Mr Duffuor who has previously indicated his readiness to contest the flag bearer position of the NDC told the host of Ekossisen, Osei Bonsu that he intends to pay special attention to vocational training should he be given the nod to lead as Ghana as president.
