For Not Paying Rent, See How A Landlord Locked Up Office Use By Electricity Company

A landlord has decided to lock up his property over unpaid rents in Rivers State, Nigeria.

According to BBC News Pidgin, the landlord locked up the property being use by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) in the Ogbumnabali area of Port Harcourt claiming they have never paid their rent since December 2020.

The development as therefore led to the PHEDC officials conducting their official business from a car parked outside the building as people came to pay their light bills.

The PHEDC however said that they have paid the rent but the landlord may not have seen the alert yet.

The spokesperson for the PHEDC, Chioma Aninwe told BBC Pidgin that there was a communication gap between them and the landlord as they have reached out to him to show proof of payment.

Pictures which was credited to Stephen Momoh saw the landlord sitting in front of the locked office, just as customers were seen conducting business with the PHEDC officials in the car parked outside the building.
