Fast food giant, KFC has signed a partnership with indigenous poultry farm, Darko Farms to supply the company with local poultry products. The agreement will see about 87% of poultry products being supplied by Darko farms to KFC.
This not just a good news for the local business which for a while now has been facing a lot of challenges thereby hindering its activities compared to what it used to be. It is also a boost in the confidence in locally produced chicken since for a while now, the dependency on imported chicken mostly from China.
The deal was mainly triggered by the injection about 22 million Ghana Cedis by the government under the government’s One District One Factory project.
With many people concerned about the quality of chicken imported into the country, the bold move by KFC to take supplies from a local producer like Darko Farms looks like a step in the right direction.
