The Price of Cement has dropped in Upper West Region after low patronage of the product in some areas, during the harmattan in Upper West Region, People move into construction works and as a result it was expected that prices shoot up from Middle of October to February.
A bag of cement in some areas such as Kambali has moved down from Ghc 53 to Ghc49 a drop of Ghc4. The fall does not reflect generally around, meanwhile some areas have also reduced prices from Ghc54 to Ghc51 a drop of Ghc3.
Some distributors explained that competition in the market was the factor behind the development, they added that it was a market strategy to get more customers as cement distributors have become many lately.
Several people have reacted to the price of Dzata with others calling for the CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama to reduce the price in order to enable them have access to cement for construction works, some stated that they expected the price to range between Ghc40 to Ghc45 but with the new development, they have become shocked with the price.
Development in the Upper West Region has become rapid with at least 22 structures being constructed a day.
Wa alone has 29 fuel stations with 5 Supermarkets and 3 Malls, 27 Private Basic Schools and 4 Private Senior High Schools.
