The Ewe tribe

Ewe unity is based on language and common traditions of origin: their original homeland is traced to Oyo, in western Nigeria, which was a major Yoruba kingdom.

Most Ewe are farmers, corn (maize) and yams being their staple foods. Sea fishing is a full-time occupation in some coastal areas.

They might have migrated from a place called Ketu or Amedzowe in Benin, east of the Niger River or they are from the region that is now the border between Benin and Nigeria.

The Ashanti tribe

The Ashanti Empire was a pre-colonial West African state that emerged in the 17th century in what is now Ghana.

The Ashanti or Asante were an ethnic subgroup of the Akan-speaking people, and were composed of small chiefdoms.

They became famous for gold and brass craftsmanship, wood carving, furniture, and brightly colored woven cloth, called kente.

The Ga tribe

The Ga are descended from immigrants who came down the Niger River and across the Volta during the 17th century.

The Ga-speaking peoples were organized into six independent towns (Accra, Osu, Labadi, Teshi, Nungua, and Tema). Each town had a stool, which served as the central object of Ga ritual and war magic.

Ga women are one of the kind when it come to beauty. Among the tribes in Ghana, Ga women are beautiful despite their hardworking attitude.

The Fante tribe

The Fante live around Cape Coast and Elmina and are one of the Akan peoples. The Fante speak a Twi language. Women in this tribe are hardworking and beautiful.

The tribe is home to many high profile persons, notable among whom are Kofi Annan (former UN Secretary General), Jacob Wilson Sey (first indigenous multimillionaire on the Gold Coast), British journalist and writer Ekow Eshun, Ottobah Cugoano (abolitionist and natural rights philosopher).
