Sad news hits AngloGold Ashanti

Three miners suspected to be employed by AngloGold Ashanti's Obuasi mines were reportedly stuck underground after the mine caved in on Tuesday.

Although there is little detail about the incident available to Luv News, sources say a search party has been sent underground to save them.

Mining accidents in Ghana are often related to mine safety regulations that are not strictly followed, but AngloGold Ashanti is regarded as one of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced mining companies in the world.

The Obuasi mine is a new gold deposit that is currently being redeveloped and is on track to be completed.

On May 10, the company announced that it has revamped its safety policy across the board, with a specific emphasis on the essential controls required to eradicate so-called "high consequence, low frequency" incidents, such as mine-traps.

Let's hope the search team is able to rescue them.
