Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC Communications Officer and Okoe Boye, former Deputy Minister for Health today, Thursday, October 7, 2021 joined Dr. Randy Abbey on the Good Morning Ghana show. The show looked at the economy of Ghana and whether it was improving or retrogressing. Dr. Okoe Boye started the discussion when he illustrated how the President Akufo-Addo government had transformed the rickety economy they came to meet.
Okoe Boye noted that every business man knows that the stability of the cedi is guaranteed under the government of the NPP. This argument was however countered by Sammy Gyamfi who questioned what the current government had done with all the money they inherited. He queried the schools and hospitals that the Akufo-Addo government promised.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, this government inherited oil fields and yet they have been the most wasteful and the worse borrower among all previous governments. He explained that the only explanation the government always gives is Covid-19, a ploy used to deceive Ghanaians into thinking that the government has done well.
Sammy Gyamfi called on Okoe Boye to list the hospitals and schools that have been built. He noted that prices have shot up since the coming of the ruling NPP and challeneged Dr. Bawumia on his comments that the exchange rate will expose every fragile government. With evidence from Ghana web, Sammy claimed that there is so much evidence to prove that the previous NDC government has done far better than the NPP government which has had all the luxury and yet still making Ghanaians suffocate under economic hardships.
In response, Okoe Boye called on Sammy to stop peddling untruth because they tend to twist the facts. He acknowledged that Covid-19 has been the downfall of the Ghanaian economy. He admitted that even with Covid-19, the ruling NPP has outperformed both the Mills and Mahama governments just in 5 years.
