Tansport fare increase: you are insensitive because you don't buy fuel- Sammy Gyamfi slams Kamal

Speaking on TV3 on Tuesday, the leader of the communication team of the opposition National Democratic Congress says imposition of new taxes on fuel at the time most Ghanaians are still battling with the negative impacts of covid-19 pandemic is a bad decision by the government.

In contrast, his co-pannelist, Kamal Deen of the New Patriotic Party believes that the new taxes by the Akufo-Addo led government is a necessary condition in restoring the economy back to its feet.

However, Mr Sammy Gyamfi sharply disagreed, insisting that it a mark of insensitivity.

"You are insensitive because you don't buy fuel", he said.

Three driver unions on Monday, 16th May 202, unanimously announced 20% increment in the transport fares across the country.

The drivers argued that the decision to increase the fares has become necessary due to recent hike in fuel prices resulting from the imposition of new taxes by government.
