Fresh scandals: ECG and Covid-19 paid Ken Ofori Atta's company GHC30m, Kelvin blows alarm

Friday, 24th September 2021

A US based Ghanaian journalist Mr. Kelvin Ekow Baidoo Tailor has made very serious exposé on his Loudsilence TV yesterday. According to the host of With All Due Respect talk show, the finance minister had duped the nation once again using the same method he used to milk Ghana on the botched PDS scandal.

Kelvin Tailor disclosed that, the current board chair for Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Mr. Kelly Gajebo doubles as the Chief Executive Officer for Enterprise Insurance Company, a company owed by the finance minister. He said documents in his possession had it that, insurance packages for ECG staff worth 20 million Ghana Cedis has been handed to Hon. Ken Ofori Atta's Enterprise Insurance.

Kelvin alleged that, the company was given the package because the ECG boss was also CEO of Enterprise Insurance while the owner of Enterprise Insurance was also the finance minister is of Ghana. This he said is clearly conflict of interest.

Another exposé made by Kelvin on the same program was the 10m Ghana Cedis Covid-19 insurance package for health workers. Kelvin said this insurance package is also being handled by Enterprise Insurance Company. The visibly angry journalist wondered why the state owned State Insurance Company (SIC) was not made to handle such insurance packages.

In his opinion, the health minister, the president and vice president were complicit in these scandals. That he thought is the reason why Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu and Finance minister were not sacked from their positions when they mishandled the Sputnik V vaccine contract.

Kelvin Tailor advised Ghanaian health workers and ECG staff to wake up because their lives were at stake. He said if Enterprise Insurance Company which is a private company collapses, all their hopes will hit on rocks. This is why he thought the packages should be given to a state enterprise to manage.
