The Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission has announced new tariffs in compliance with the Quarterly Tariff Review Mechanism and Guidelines outlined in the major tariff review decision from August 2022. This was stated in a press release issued on Monday in Accra. The Executive Secretary, Dr. Ishmael Ackah, indicated that the tariffs were authorized after careful consideration of the current economic climate.
The Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission has announced that the average end-user tariff for electricity will be increased by 29.96% across all consumer groups. Additionally, the average end-user tariff for water will be raised by 8.3%. However, some reductions have been approved for selected industrial and commercial consumers as part of the ongoing restructuring of the existing water rate structure, as stated in the press release.
