Occupants of the onion market at Agbogbloshie were given today as the deadline to vacate the area and settle at Adjei Kotoku, an area allocated for them by goverment. The resettlement exercise forms part of the "Make Accra Clean" agenda, which is being spearheaded by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey. It must be noted that government had given each trader some financial assistance to enable them transport their goods to the new area allocated for them.
The joint task force led by the Regional Minister, have therefore stormed the area to remove some of the traders who were yet to vacate the area.
The leader of the operation explained to Joy News that they were compelled to fire some tear gas as some criminals attempt to take advantage of the operation by robbing other traders in the area.
Speaking to Joy News, the Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey also expressed his profound gratitude to his colleague MPs from the opposition NDC, for their unfliching support in making the exercise successful so far.
