I Have Never Supported IMF Bailout And I Hope This Negotiation With Them Collapses

Government of Ghana has officially started negotiations with the International Monetary Fund for a financial bailout. The president of Ghana instructed Ken Ofori Atta to begin the negotiation process as soon as possible.

This became necessary following several complaints by Ghanaians about the hardships in the country. Some NDC members are happy that the NPP government is also seeking the support of IMF after attacking them in the first place.

Kwesi Pratt has reacted to this and has wished that this negotiations between the government and the IMF fails. Speaking on Pan Africa Television this morning, Kwesi Pratt revealed that going to IMF will bring severe hardship on this economy. He explained this and revealed Ghana is overridden with several debts.

He added that going for additional loan will create severe hardships. It is therefore his wish that this negotiations collapses as soon as possible so that government will figure out a better way for the country without any loans. He also made it clear that he has never and will never support any government to go to IMF because of the conditionalities attached.

"IMF business is to keep us in the new liberal order. Their main business is to ensure that we don't change the paradigm of development. They insist on the privatization of states enterprises, withdrawal of subsidies on social services and devaluation of national currencies."

"They said that we are going to engage the IMF. I am praying that the negotiation collapses. This will force us then to look for better alternatives" he said.
