Bawumia Avoids Questions About the Economy. "Today is for Eid and not the Economy"

On an interview with morning host, Kojo Yankson on the JoyFM Super morning show, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia was invited to speak via voice call.

He wished all muslims a Eid Mubarak and was asked a number of questions about the Electoral Commission, the elections, the role of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as the opposition.

The interviewer raised an issue on the economy and how it is faring presently. "Have you still arrested the dollar ?Are the keys still with the IGP" the interviewer asked.

To this, the vice president answered that, the keys are still there. He stated that Inflation had gone down as compared to other governments. "We have managed the cedi much better." Bawumia said. "The Depreciation rate of the cedi has reduced by 50% since coming into power"

The vice president said that the NPP had brought down inflation, the housing deficit and cost of living. They had also reduced water prices, created more jobs and have been able to achieve a lot within three and a half years. "The records are there. Look at the history of the 4th republic and you will know that this is good progress.." he said.

When asked to explain what he meant by all that, vice president averted the question and said that today is for Eid and that he should be allowed to celebate today. No room for economic discussions.

What do you think? Is this a legitimate concern of the Vice President?.

Happy Eid to all.
