It is public knowledge that a lot of government establishments are not making profits. They are always declaring losses which does not auger well for us a country. On newsfile this morning, renowned journalist and lawyer Samson Lardi Anyenini enumerated the huge number of bonuses management of SOEs enjoy in addition to the fat salaries they already enjoy. Why won't we be struggling to raise revenue if these managers are taking huge sums without nothing to show for it?
According to Samson, these managers enjoy holiday allowances. There is also a retirement package for them. Depending on the number of years you've been at post, there is an additional parting gift for you. They also enjoy a mandatory medical examination yearly abroad. There is also an entertainment allowance and a DSTV subscription worth 500 cedis a month. In fact the allowances are just many I can't list all of them here. If such managers are enjoying all these and more and are unproductive, then there is no future for us as a country.
