They are milking the economy;covid funds will bring a lot of scandals:Reactions on covid-19 funds

It is an undeniable fact that economic issues attract a lot of interest from the citizenry. It is not surprising that Ghanaians have requested reports on how covid-19 funds were expended.

Readers can recall that there were also calls by the Speaker of Parliament and the Minority for the Finance Minister to account for how the covid-19 funds were utilised.

The Finance Minister finally provided a report on how he and the Ministry made disbursement of the said funds. The Finance Minister explained that GHS 143 million was spent on free water and electricity during the covid 19 period. On how much was spent in total, Parliament requested for an ad-hoc committee to investigate the discrepancies between figures submitted by the President and that of the Finance Minister.

There have been interesting reactions from Ghanaians during the discussion of the trending issue.

Aaron Babako advised that, aside Parliament, the ordinary people should also be made to understand how the disbursement of the covid 19 funds were done. He emphasized the need for the issue to be taken seriously.

Blay Sabali mentioned that the covid 19 funds will bring a lot of scandals due to how the reporting was done. Blay further advised that receipts for the various expenses should be verified.

Gbevu Lipton made a strong comment indicating that they are milking the economy.

Another Ghanaian, such as Azumah Kofi , has asked why the President mentioned GHS 17 billion whilst the Finance Minister has stated 12billion.
