The Minister, Hon Owusu Afriyie, is responsible to the government and the Parliament of Ghana for the development of Ghana's agriculture and maintaining food security in Ghana. The Minister reveals that the high cost of foodstuffs in Ghana is as a result of greedy market women.

It has come to his office that women in the market have been putting their own amount of money on top of foodstuffs to increase the cost of items in the market. A report has revealed that items being sold in the villages are very cheap as compared to towns and cities. Speaking at a town hall meeting, the Minister claimed that people would buy a basket of tomatoes for GHC150 in the villages where they are planted and later sell the same things at GHC400 in the cities.
The Minister added that it requires transportation to carry the foodstuffs to cities and towns, but the commission market women add is very huge. Follow me for more.
