A colourful sod cutting ceremony to commence work on the Construction Of Ultramodern International Convention Center in Kumasi (KICC),the Ashanti Regional Capital.
The project which has been given green light for commencement will be situated opposite the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
The project which is a public-private partnership with Manhyia comprises Exhibition hall, Event Centers, Mini zoo, Cosmetic clinic, Luxury hotels, Theme park, Designer eatery, Office complex, Deluxe shops, Automated car park and Executive business suites.
During a colourful ceremony that was organised for the sod cutting, Otumfou Akwamuhene, Acheamfuo Nana Boakye Bonsu II, who represented His Royal Majesty Otumfou Osei Tutu II , indicated Manhyia's readiness towards ensuring a holistic and total development in Kumasi and across the Ashanti Kingdom.
Speaking in an interview with PAG TV, the Chief Executive Officer for CAITEC Group, Mr Tang Hong said his company is ready to move to site as the whole project is expected to take 5years for completion.
He used the occasion to thank His Royal Majesty and pledged to deliver a good and quality work for the people of Ashanti and Ghana as a whole.
The Kumasi International Conference Centre is expected to bring new energies into the growing heritage tourism, boost creative arts and movie industry and promote the economic growth in Kumasi.
The project is estimated to cost $20 million to be funded by Chinese investors led by CAITEC Group of companies.
