A Professor has boldly sent a strong message to Ghanaians concerning the electronic levy, also known as E-levy. He mentions it is a necessary tax for the country now and so it's either we accept it or we pay it in other ways.

A former Rector at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Adei while speaking to journalists at a special convocation to confer honorary doctorate degrees on four eminent Ghanaians at GIMPA on Wednesday, March 23 said the E-levy is currently a necessary tax for the government.

It will help the government in these times of economic hardships and so it's either we accept the E-levy or the government makes us pay for it in another way.

“I think that even though all of you don’t like it, I think that we should go for the E-levy, it is a tax which we need now to save Ghana from its current situation. The reason is that there are very limited avenues in the short-term to raise revenue."

" If you and I don’t support the government at this stage we will pay it through the other way – falling Cedi, rising inflation. So people don’t realize when they say they won't pay the E-levy, you will end up paying." Prof Adei said.

Do you agree with the Professor that the E-levy is a necessary tax for the government in these times of hardships?

Do you think Ghanaians should accept the E-levy because if not, the government will make us pay it through other means?

If you won't pay E-levy, will you be willing to pay it in the other way should the President fix it somewhere?
